Agreement on a Strategic Partnership to Promote Mobility Transition in Africa – DFP × Africa E-Mobility Alliance

DFP and the Africa E-Mobility Alliance (AfEMA),  a pan-African think tank promoting sustainable mobility solutions across the continent, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for a strategic partnership on the occasion of Africa E-Mobility Week 2025, held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. 
Through this collaboration, the two parties aim to combine AfEMA’s expertise and network in the sustainable mobility sector in Africa with DFP’s startup advisory and initiatives to create collaboration opportunities with global corporations, working together toward the development of a clean mobility ecosystem across Africa. 

Overview of the Strategic Partnership 

In order to explore a strategic cooperative relationship between Japan and Africa to promote the introduction and adoption of sustainable e-mobility in Africa, the parties will undertake the following initiatives: 

  • Exploration of potential collaboration under donor-supported programs, including funding and technical assistance 
  • Information sharing on emerging e-mobility trends in Africa, including policies, regulations, and startups 
  • Promotion of investment in promising African startups 
  • Facilitation of collaboration between African startups and global companies, including business matching, joint R&D, and PoC initiatives 
  • Dissemination and co-promotion of events and initiatives related to the mobility transition
