Announcing Initiatives to Expand Private Investment in Africa at the Africa Investment Forum 2025

The Africa Investment Forum (AIF) 2025, hosted by the African Development Bank (AfDB), was held in Morocco with the objective of accelerating private sector investment across Africa. Our CEO, Kohei Muto, participated as a speaker at the forum.

The AIF is a flagship platform designed to mobilize investment into Africa, bringing together over 2,000 representatives from leading institutions and companies across more than 80 countries.
During the forum, Kohei spoke in a dedicated session focused on the Enhanced Private Sector Assistance for Africa (EPSA) — a joint initiative led by the Government of Japan and the AfDB. The session explored strategies to scale private investment through blended finance mechanisms and public–private partnerships.

In his remarks, Kohei highlighted successful outcomes from the project NINJA, an acceleration program implemented in Kenya and South Africa, which demonstrated the potential of open innovation in emerging markets. He also delivered a pre-announcement regarding an ongoing collaboration with the AfDB on venture investments in mobility and logistics sectors across Africa.

In parallel with the forum, Kohei engaged with key stakeholders and our strategic partners including Anda, an Angola-based mobility startup in which we have invested, and had the opportunity to reconnect with its CEO, Mr. Sergio. Anda supports employment stability and asset ownership through its Drive-to-Own model, enabling drivers to gradually acquire ownership of their vehicles. Since its founding in 2022, Anda has integrated over 1,500 drivers into the formal economy and increased average driver income by approximately 20%.

Following our support for Anda’s project finance strategy through “Meet the Toshikas,” an acceleration program jointly implemented with UNDP in 2024, the company has continued to expand its operations and market presence in Angola.
